I'm just thinking about this a little more, Rob. Greg/MO's post got me to thinking about the climbing stand and what it takes to get up a tree in one. Hear me out....

On the platform.....you could put all your weight on your good leg. On your rail.....you raise yourself by pushing down with your arms. The stress on your legs while raising your platform is on the thighs.....NOT the achilles area. Weight back on the good leg once your platform is raised to the next "climbing" position.

"I" think it's not only LESS stress on your bad leg....but a MUCH safer approach (due to the rail on your climber....if it indeed has one. I'm sure you could get such a stand from a friend if yours doesn't have the rail......and I'd have shipped you my extra if I'd thought of this, sooner.

Does this make sense?

Guys

If his ankle blows up again he could die. He slips he's dead, I have not hunted with Rob yet.

Lets take a step back and use common sense. I will drive to PA and hold you down[>:] Then take your wife out dancing

I can't blame you. Remember you have the whole season, one idea is to use a blind or take it slow so you can get in a stand during the rut. Have fun, be safe.

So Rob.................what does the wife think about you going out?

Be careful up in that tree, you should hunt from the ground but thats your call.
Stay safe and we definitely want to see pictures

Get one of them soft harness type tree stads (I forget what they are called) and tie the end to a rope. Get a couple of pulleys and make Q2 hoist you up and tie you off. J/K Hunt from the ground and play it safe. Use a ground blind in a different spot that you may want to hunt but never have.. Stay safe.
