If you decide to go out, best of luck to you.
I know nobody could stop me going out with a broken leg and full length cast with crutches in the snow when I had to. Of course I was only 18 then. Would probably think twice now.

Sounds like a good tree for a ground blind. I'd just make a nest down at the base of the tree and forget trying to climb. Doing the one legged hop up into a treestand just doesn't sound like a sensible plan to me. I'd hate for you to miss a step, hit the ground like a gob of mud and not be around any more.

Yes it's true, your hoplessly insane, your eat up with whitetails, what the hell is the matter with you? [8D]Good luck not breaking something else! Would that not be a neat pic in the contest, you with a buck, bow, a set of gardian crutches, and a camo leg brace [8D]best of luck Rob"o!

Where there's a will there's a way. I broke my leg in half one late summer. The doc said no way I would be bow hunting come Oct. 1. He was wrong. I got a spike on opening day out of a ground blind I had made. The next day I shot one of the largest bucks I have ever killed from another natural ground blind I had made. He was a nice 9 point. It took me over2 hours to get him out, piece by piece. I was still using one crutch at the time and couldn't put any weight on my left leg. Needless to say that was a long painful but exciting morning. You are not crazy for going out, you are dedicated like most of us on this site are. BTW, the morning I killed the 9 point I started the morning off in a ladder stand and almost fell off. I didn't try to climb a stand again until my leg healed a little more. Just be careful and don't get in a hurry.
