I went home at lunch and shot my bow.

It ain't the arrows, boys.....it's the indian. I'm hitting what I aim for. I'm aiming too high.....or they're dcuking too quick. Either way.....if I miss, tomorrow, it'll be low.

20 yds or less it WILL be, for a while. I thought I had gotten beyond that threshold. I was wrong.

I was hoping ot get out today.....but God is blessing us with some MUCH needed rain....and I just don't feel like taking the chance of a rain-soaked tracking job. I'm a bit gun-shy, already.....but I'll be back in my two favorite spots, tomorrow (barring a wind shift).

I don't think that's the case. I believe you are capable of making shots much further out as are most here. I just think a "self imposed yardagelimit" till you get back in the grove is all you need. Has nothing to do with any thresholds that needed to be passed. This may last the whole season, a few weeks, a few days, or till you successfully arrow your next deer.

Don't over think this Jeff, It's like golf...don't over analyze what you're doing. Just relax, have confidence in your ability (you practiced enough) you know what to do and how to do it as well as anybody.

Jeff,

You've had a good run oftough luck this past week....the truth is, many more have been in your same shoes, including myself...but wouldnt or didnthave the stones to speak of it. Keep after it Jeff, keep your head up, I know you will, God says he wont give us more than we can handle.. It's happened to most bowhunters if they take enough shots.... Not everyone but most..Have a good weekend of hunting teammate and take a close shot, at 20 yards or less, like the guys havesaid..When you need a forsure shot..take a slam dunk over a 3 pointer...even with the speed of sound they dont have much time to react at under 20..

Ihave 100% faith in you Jeff, you'll turn this around..

Thanks, guys.....but....lol....I ain't shooting no 3 pointer!

I'll be honest, though....I was tempted by a couple of velvet 6 pointers, this week.

I'll be back at it tomorrow.....but the wind ABSOLUTELY SUCKS for where I want to go. Here goes that discipline thing, again.

Don't take it so far. Just take your next deer in the perfect scenario and then when you confidence is at a high go back to normal. It is second guessing things that will bite you.

You're practiced. Now execute.

[/align]I know how you feel I wounded a deer for the first time last year. I had no confidence after that. Shake it off. Practice some more. Get your confidence back. It sounds like a glancing shot. She will most likely be fine. If you can think of anything you did wrong;learn from it. I know you have heard all of this before. So many people say the same thing,so it must be true. I look forward to your next story, Chip

You did the best you could in the situation you had. It happens. I did the same thing last Saturday (hit a doe high and lost it) made me feel like crap. The next one came through Monday and I just made sure of the spot and everything came together as planned. Hang in there and good luck.
