Default late season ideas on tagging that big buck

Ive hunted every day that I could this year and Ive tagged one deer. A doe, and that was in muzzle loader season. Its bow from here on out. I hunt in farm country and I could use any advice I could get.
Thanks

First if your after a nice buck you must have one in your area. Since your hunting in Ohio farm country I'm sure thats not a problem. Yes the food source is where you must concentrate. I would suggest that you take a couple of afternoons to either drive the roads in your hunting area or better yet sneak into an off the road field in either corn or winter wheat and do an inventory of which fields are being hit the hardest on your hunting grounds. The deer are beginning to yard up(large group of deer together) here in Illinois and I assume also in Ohio. The reason for this obviously is because the food sources are becoming much more scarce. Once you find your best food source you should slip in in early afternoon and place your stand preferably on a trail(funnel) leading out of the bedding area into the field. You should stay inside the woods atleast 50 yds. Make sure the wind is in your favor as the does, yearlings, and young bucks will be the first in the field. If big boy shows up it will almost always be after these first deer. If he doesn't show on the first night it would be nice to have a route out of the woods that would allow you to not spook the deer already feeding. It would be nice if you had a couple of fields like this so you could rest a field that you had just hunted and hit a fresh field on alternating outings. This strategy has worked for me before. Good Luck!

Yes hunt the food sources probably corn or soybeans in your area.

And when its really cold deer bed down on south facing points. More sunlight there and it shelters them from the north wind.

well, I don't know how it is up there where ya'll hunt, but here in south Ar, about the only way your goin to get a chance at the bigger bucks, is find about where he's beddin, and set up right at his bedroom door, and catch him comin back to bed up in the early mornin.

you very seldom see a nice buck out in the open this late in the season. that is unless your headlighting.<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>
