video of a painless kill
When I took my hunter safety course (bow) the instructor said he had seen video footage of a grazing deer that jerked his head up at the sound of a bow string, looked around, saw nothing suspicious and went back to grazing.Ate for afew secondsand then plopped over dead because the arrow had gone right through him. His argument was that sharp blades can, under the right circumstances, pass completely through a deer so that the deer might not even feel it (not hit bone, etc.). Can anybody confirm a similar situation or point me to the video/youtube that he might be talking about? He didn't say he saw it on youtube, by the way.

My first deer I ever shot(doe), I shot at about 10yds from treestand double lung broadside shot. The arrow hit the deer and I swear the deer didnt even as much as flinch? It walked away from me about 50yds where my cousin was hunting and just layed down. I couldnt see it though but it was right under my cousin and he said it basically just layed down and died within a minute or so.
I must add I was using muzzy90grn 4blade and I did NOT hit any of the ribcage went right between on both sides!
Its different I knew I hit the deer but I was second guessing my eyes sittin in the treestand!!

I shot a Buck in Kansas that was smelling some JVS I had placed in the center of a group of scrapes. When I shot, the Buck looked in my direction for several seconds, then went right back to sniffing the JVS.
I had fallowed through with the shot and watched the hair the broadhead had cut drift to the ground and when the Buck went back to smelling the scents I remember thinking to myself, Should I try to shoot him again?
At about the same time the Blood started pouring out the far side low hole and the buck turned his head to look at it,His hind quarters started swaying, and hishocks went together to stabilize himself, He staggered sideways, made about a 15 yard semi circle and laid down.
The Buck looked around for a few seconds, laid his head down, and flicked his tail 3 times, the third time it flared out and then went limp, and it was all over.
I have shot several over the years that either bolted, or bucked like a mule only to run out to 40-50 yards stop look back and then topple over, but only the one to act like nothing had ever happend
It was the most passive death I ever seen!

I shot a little 4 pointer last year and I hit it back in the liver. It ran about 20 feet then stopped and licked the entrance wound then kinda walked away a little ways then trotted off over the hill. I know he felt it because he licked the wound butI'm not sure if it was painful. I never recoved the buck and there was no blood trail after about 10 feet of the impact area, ven tho the arrow was covered in blood.

i rattled in a great eight pointer with a doe right under my stand, the buck closed the distance to about eighteen yards and i made a great shot right behind the shoulder and the buck simply took a couple quick steps...GRUNTED, located the doe and chasedher for about fifty yards grunting the whole way, but afterthe 50yards worth ofoxygenlessrunning he collapsed. I was elated with a great eight pointer and a hell of a story for the boys! the doe must've thought she caused his heart attack! i have also seen this on videos before where the deer might bound off and act as though nothing happened with blood trickling down their hide, pretty wicked!

I've shot a couple of does that did the exact same thing. They jumped at the sound of thestring and walked off. About 5 seconds later, they just dropped over. If you don't hit a rib, they don't know they've been shot.

Yes, it can happen. I've shot two deer at close range that did not react to the shot/shot noise.
Onedoe (after a heart shot with visible exsanguination) stood for just seconds, looking alertly at the rest of the herd alarmed by the noise --she fellin situand then the herd took off. There were 17 deer around me at the time.
Another doe (liver/lung) had abuck following her just a few feet away. At the shot, she just looked back at the buck as if to say "WTF?" and walked just a bit further before hip swaying and going down. The buck (nice 8ptr) tried having his way with her even after she had collapsed on the ground. The buck did not leave her as he watched me climb down my tree (hand climber)... it made me a bit nervous when he stood his ground, but he reluctantly departed and I claimed my prize.

I shot a doe last season that was with 2 others. They jumped at the sound of the string and I got mixed up on which one I shot because none of them looked hurt. I was second guessing my shot but Iknew I hit her. I lost sight of them for a little bit and then there were only 2. When the 2 does cleared the area and I got down to get my arrow, there was my dead doe, about 30 yards from where I shot.

Shot a doe in the liver that was feeding on acorns. The arrow completely passed through. She kept feeding for 5-10 minutes after the shot and just wobbled and fell over after that.
