Decided to shoot BH's this evening.......and had 1 arrow going nuts. I cahnged the head. Still nuts. Changed the arrow. Fine.

Didn't expect to get a bad a/c/c.....but I guess anything's possible.
Jeff, misaligned insert? Spin test the arrow and watch for wobble in the head, it'll show you a misalinged insert and plain your arrow off.

I know when I'm in over my head, Rob. I'll take it down to the shop (where they cut it and put in the insert) tomorrow......see what they think.

Jeff, take yer busted arrow with ya and ask them to fix it

dang...i just threw out last years dumbie mistakes of doing the same..shooting BH groups...threw out 4 or 5 arrows...i should took them to the shop the night before the season and asked to have them fixed just to see the looks on the guys faces

so far, i havent been foolish enough to shoot BH groups with the new dozen...but still do it with FPs...got a couple that need refletched...and busted 1. i was tossing arrows randomly in the backyard and shooting from where they landed...estimating the yardage...angles etc. baddd idea. threw one left and one right. shot both at the bottom left and bottom right dot on my bag. funny how they met in the middle and i shattered a brand new arrow

GMMAT,

It's possible to get a bad arrow in ANY bunch. When they cut the arrows for you did they cut a little off both ends? Did they square the shaft?

Believe it or not, when you go to spin test them, the nock end is more important than the insert end. If the arrow shot fine with field points though, it's more than likely the insert end. I had the same problem about a month ago, I had an arrow going "nuts". Spun test it, wobble in the back end....JUNK! I was VERY unsatisfied with the mid grade shaft I was using, GT's, then again, I didn't cut any off the back end of the arrow. The way most carbons are made, they can get pretty inconsistant on the ends.

Since the GT episode, I've since switched to some CX Maxima 250's, LOVE em'

Understood, Cougs.....and we do so with the x-weaves I shoot. That's why I said this up front.

Didn't expect to get a bad a/c/c.....but I guess anything's possible.

I hear ya bro. With how much those darn ACC's are, you would expect to get near perfect quality. Shafts are so expensive now days, especially if you get good quality ones. Now that I have gotten back into shooting pretty extensively, I just couldn't settle for a mid-grade shaft. I could actually tell a difference. Maximas weren't necessarily my first choice, but just like my broadheads, I couldn't pass up the deal.
