How far do you walk?

RE: How far do you walk?
The buck I killed last year was a 2-mile drag (in every sense of the word) out of a swamp bottom. It is a great place to hunt, so I can't abandon it. No one else goes in there since they kicked the atv's out. I got an idea from a member here about using a bicycle to ride in and wheel the deer out, so I'll give that a try. I'm also trying to make my climbing stand into a deer cart to make it easier to get it back there and to help out if I get lucky.

I park about a 1/4 to 1/2 away. Sometimes in the early morningsI will intentionaly park right in the open about 150 yds from the woods. I do this so they come thru the woods instead of the brome field.

1/2 mile to 2 miles depending .... If I have a big ridge that keeps the noise from rolling up over the other side I can slip in closer. Usually its always a 1/2 mile or more though. The sound really carrys up and down the canyons.

All I do is walk...hahaha...seriously, I usually am within a mile or two of a road or 4-wheeler trail in spot and stalk country.Problem is, in the public land hunting I usually do, you have to get at least a couple miles off the beaten path to get away from others and into good game. I just hope that the road is a downhill drag after the shot, but Murphy usually makes it an uphill drag.

The old honda 110 3 wheeler goes about anywhere!!! I've shot deer as far as 6 miles from the shack, but usually drive right to them!! I usually park my wheeler 400-500yds from my stands, but have had deer walk right pastmy wheelermore than once, so I don't really thinka wheelerbothers them that much!!!
