One shot practice.

I'm fairly certain Kobe Bryant doesn't practice for that game winning free-throw by only toeing the line and shooting one.
I suppose Brett Favre throws more than one pass, each practice session.

No, the sight doesn't change, people do. The first shotis the most important because you're likely not getting a second, let alone a 20th. Yes, they are all important, but not like the first.

The sight on my bow doesn't change. I'm wondering how the first arrow is any more important than the 20th if you're practicing, correctly? They ALL "count".

I typically shoot only one arrow at a time
But I also shoot it about 30 times in a row...[8D]
Practice is for your form, grip, sighting in, release, follow through, and your getting in tune with your equipment. This takes more than one shot.
Only in a hunting situation do I see the first shot being the most important...

I always take my time and pretend my first shot is a huge buck but good or bad I shoot 50 more to work on repatition. When that huge buck walks by and I'm shaking and sweating with excitement I want my shot to come as natural as possible.

As the season gets closer I will often shoot only one arrow,if it's good I do some chores if not I try to correct the problem get a good one and stop. Sometimes I shoot three and a good group I stop. Your last shot should be a good one to reinforce the mental game.
