gut shot question

I have never gut shot a deer and hope to never do it but... If you do wont leaving the deer out over night (in say october/november when it can be warm out) spoil the meat?
Yes, at least some of the meat will spoil because regardless of the outside temp the deer's internal temperature will stay hot for hours. The meat can even begin to spoil while they are still alive. It is better to get some meat than none however. If nothing else at least you can use it for dog meat or something. Better than the coyotes and coons getting it.
