bow for a beginner?
Ok, I've decided I'm really interested in the idea of bow hunting. I'd really like to get into it (maybe I won't have enough time before this year's deer season) but definately for next year! (this is gona be my very 1st time deer hunting!) Anyway, my question is... What is a good bow for a small stature female who is just starting out? I'm just under 5'2". I would need something reasonably affordable, but I don't want a cheap piece of crap either. I'm sure I will move on to an upgrade eventually, but I have a daughter, so it would be nice to have something that will last long enough that she might be able to use it someday. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Hey Sleep,
The easiest thing for us all to do, is tell you that our brand bow, is what you need. (we are mostly die hard loyalists) The best thing for you to do is do go to the local bowshop and get measured and start asking questions and browsing. I wa sin your shoes when I started..I knew nothing I went and asked questions, got fitted and got addicted.
You can start to familiarize yourself with bows and company's by searching the company's websites. They usually have women sections
Bowtech
Hoyt
Mathews
Bear
Pse
Reflex
Diamond
add archery ..to the backside of these and type into search engine, that should get you on the way to the sites. Stop back once you've got some exposure and many folks will help you further.

A good site to go to is Archerytalk. You have plenty of time to become decent with a bow for hunting season. Like the above poster mentioned most here prefer one brand over another. I would just look for a midlevel bow, because you don't need a $1,000 bow for bow hunting.
Fred Bear, Reflex, PSE, Bowtech and the list goes on. Once you find something you like, look in the classifieds at archery talk you can normally find a deal w/ everything you need to start shooting. There is nothing wrong with buying used and it can end up getting you a better bow without all the expense.

I suggest that you definetly look at the Diamond Edge. Great bow for beginners and women. And you can get it fully setup with everyrthing you need(except arrows) for around $300.
