My first trail cam post
Well guys, I am new to using trail cams. I bought the IR cuddeback last summer but didnt get to use it but 1 week before season and then pulled it due to publicland.
This summer I put it out one day the 13th of June and then pulled it the next because free ranging cattle moved into an old salt lick.
I then moved it to trail I hunted a buck I called "stretch" last fall. I have a set of his sheds one of which I posted in my field journal Sheds of the Rockies. I found themboth within 100 yards of this camera. THe both scored in the mid 60's ... last year
ALL this to say, I was excited to go pick up my camera today. I have left it out since my wife and I went on vaction. Come to find out today It only made it 4 days before some elk bumped it hard enough to shove it sideways... I have pix of the elks nose on it..
So I got 4 days of photos off of it while on vacation. The best is that my old buck Stretch is alive and well. Hes a 4.5 year old this year and looking good. I put this camera in an area I was pretty sure I would get daylight movement by many animals..
Here are a few photos from the Stretch bucks area and the cattle invaded area.. with only 4 days of camera actually being out I was happy to get a total of 39 photos in 3 days in one area and 24 in the other ...(10 were cattle) I'm happy to see old stretch looking good too..
The photo below is 50 yards from my ground blind and thats the direction he is heading... OH yeah I have the AM and PM screwed up.. I will fix that when I put the camera back out this afternoon.
