Not overhunt (or hunt at all) in my honey hole during the early season. Going to try to keep my stinky arse out of their untill prime time. Of course I say that every year and some magnetic force just lures me over there.

I have enough kills now to let the small ones walk. Last year I killed a spike. It was my first bow buck. Later in the year I killed a 7 point. I also killed a doe last year and 2 does the year before. Now I will continue to kill does, ( God willing), and I will hold out for a mature buck. No more spikes. A buck will have to match my 7 point or better.
I am also going to deer hunt with my recurve for the first time this year. That will sure be different!

The past couple of seasons I've been very consumed with a new house, new son, and school, so I'm hoping this season allows me to spend more time in the woods.

This year im wacking every doe that walks by me in the early season, for some reason last year i needed the meat, but i kept thinking that a doe was going to drag a buck by in sept and early october, come mid october ill let up on them alittle. Im also going to be alittle more aggressive with how i hunt. For example, last year i saw a deer that was atleast 3 and a half, could be 4 and a half, not sure yet, but i saw him 3 times, each time coming out of the same bedding area and would come within 40 yards of me. Instead of moving closer to the trail he was using i figured that he would come closer next time but he didnt, after 2 hunts i didnt see him again until i was in another stand and couldnt get a shot off at him cause he was in thick cover. This year if i see deer are using and frequenting a particular spot, im getting there quick before its too late and they move on.

Since my son wants to join me this year (he still has to wait another two years before he can hunt deer), I'll be hunting out of natural blinds. Below is a partially finished one with my son peeking through (picture taken at 10 yrds).
