Default Home-made cover scent

Someone once told me they make home-made cover scent by boiling water with leaves and twigs and pine cones. Has anyone tried this? Do you think it would have any significant effect?

we used to boil traps in a concoction like that, w/ proper leaves can get pretty rank smelling seemed to get human odor off the traps All good inventions starts somewhere!!!
