Jeopardizing your bowhunting passion
I'm just wondering if anyone elsehere puts their bowhunting ability in jeopardy. We all put ourselves at risk driving to work oreven taking a shower everyday.I'm talking about extracurricular activities that may pose a risk to your health that ultimately would affect your ability to bowhunt.
For example; I bought a motorcycle a few months back. I'm thankful to get back home safely everyday that I ride. However, I did lay it down a few weeks back avoiding some gravels in a curve going about 55MPH. Anyway, my helmet, jeans, and riding jacket did a great job of keeping me on this earth just a little bit longer. No serious injuries; I got some road rash on my left knee, right forearm, and sprained my left shoulder. I was finally able to pull my bow back last night for the first time in a few weeks. I'm a righty but the pressure on my left shoulder was too great to withstand holding that bow back at full draw.
About 6 months ago I sprained my wrist in a snowboarding accident. I let some friends talk me into going and I landed on my right wrist pretty hard. I vowed to never try that again.
I'm also thinking about selling the bike. Too many close calls for me and none of them seem to be my fault. [:@]
I've been thinking about walking around in a plastic bubble until archery season begins.
So...do you guys do anything that puts you at a higher risk for injury?

I used to lift a lot, and was adding a bunch of mass a couple years ago (which is hard for me to do with my frame...). I injured my shoulder, and the thought of not being able to bowhunt was the very first thought that entered my mind. I've quit lifting so heavy now, and just try to keep my chest bigger than my drawers these days.

I've done a lot of things in my early year.......including roller hockey, baseball (college); softball; and I sold my 2 Harleys the week I met my wife.
Only thingI do now is umpire....and that's just to be around the game.
I lead a pretty safe existence, now. If I don't get hurt on the treadmill......I probably won't get hurt.

Well, I am joining the Marines ( as an Officer through USNA or ROTC) and I play ice hockey, baseball, cross country, and I lift fairly heavy. Also, some of the stunts us teenagers pull can be pretty darn dangerous/life threatening.
