Will this buck be back....
Tonight I went out hunting but mostly glassing. Heres what happened. The area I hunted is a Game Production Area and is limited to foot traffic only now. As I was walking down the road I saw some deer coming out of a shelterbelt. So I thought about sticking a stand there. I then snuck down the road on my hands and knees to get a better look at the group to see if theres any bucks. As I got to the pole I saw 3 bucks come out at a different spot. One nice 4x4, and two little bucks. I watched them come to the field and eat where all the does were eating. The game and fish had put out some corn thats why they were there. I noticed that they were looking at something so I stood up and saw another hunter behind a rock pile. The big buck then started feeding close enough for him to shoot. The guy shot but missed and the deer took off. They stopped a good distance aways. I went down and talked to the guy and he said he missed and he mentioned I could sit in his spot if I wanted so I was wondering if you think this buck would be back. I think if, given some time he will be back because food is now survival for him. Just curious to what you all think. Also is there anything else I could do to not get busted now if I were to hunt that spot. Thanks for the help.

I'd never sit in the same spot. I'd find a different hide even if it were only 40 yards away. They'll be back because of the food..... but they'll be a lot more wary. I'd find where they're coming out and set up just back in the woods a ways.

I talked to the guy and he said the deer bed in the trees right by the field so I don't know if I would want to sit right next to the trees. The buck comes out in different spots. Originally I thought of putting a treestand up where I saw all the does come out but he said they bed right there and the buck came out a different spot. I might look to see if hes out there tomorrow night. I wont be able to hunt it till probably saturday evening. I think I'm gonna bring some camo netting to help provide some concealment to.

I agree with Davidmill. They will be back. I hunt the back 40 acres of my farm heavily every fall. The deer do get spooky after I take a couple of shots at them. But after 2 or 3 days, they start coming out in the same places again. I would find a different spot to hunt from though. They will be watching that first spot pretty close and any movement or something different there and they most likely will take off. Good luck.

Although my name is bigbuckshooter, I do not shoot the big ones. The little ones think I shoot the big ones so they aren't worried about getting shot but in reality they are the ones I get. hehe. I have shot one really nice deer and that was my first. Hope to have many more. I'm still upset from my uncle sitting where I was going to sit opening day of rifle season a few years back. He ended up shooting one that scored about 170. Dang it anyways.

i agree i think they will be back maybe a little later and might come from a different direction
how long did you two wait before you left the area and do you think that the deer spoted or heard you leaving i am just asking because you said that they did stop a good distance aways and most likely if could you see them they will see or hear you if you move especially if they are alert
