How long?

RE: How long?
I have had my Ultratec for 5 years and will shoot it for as long as it lasts. While I love new bows and there was a time when I purchased new every two years,I hate the beating you take when you try to sell the thing.

RE: How long?
Tough question for me. I usually don't sell many of my bows unless I really don't like them. Right now I haveseven bows which are all capable of taking deer. The one that I'm feeling most comfortable with when hunting season rolls around is the one that I'll use. I put 5 plus years for the answer since three of them are older then that, one being 40 and another being 33.

This will be my third year using my '05 Allegiance, and probably the last. I was going to try and pick up a Guardian this year, but decided to stick it out for one more with this bow. It did me well last year and have some sentimental value. Hopefully I'll whack a few more with it this fall before retiring it to backup duty.

IADeerHunter16,
Do what I did and switch to recurves. If you still want all your gadgets try one of the metal riser recurves like the Hoyt Gamemaster or a DAS Kinetic. Anyway, I put 5+ because I usually hold on to a bow for as long as it lasts. I may change to a different one sooner than that because I'm fairly new to the traditional and I'm still finding out what I like and don't like. So it may take me a few bows to settle in. But once I do I'm usually a one bow man. I'm also planning on making a few recurves. It's suprising how possible it is for a person to make their own bow and use it to hunt.

My bow is an '03. There's nothing wrong with it, so I'm going to keep using it. I was planning to get a new bow this season and keep the old one as a backup, but I'm in the process of buying a new house so I decided to save the $$ for house related stuff.
