There are times when deer do duck (and they can duck an arrow fired at 350 just as fast as one at 150). For the most part...I think its just an excuse for missing though. I suspect that we southern hunters aren't quite as sharp with our bows as some of the up north gang...but of course our deer are the size of beagles and we can shoot them with rifles starting in August.

Honestly, I would bet that the reaction times are identical, and the difference may be perceived as faster because the southern deer can get their smaller bodies out of the way faster, not because of reaction time but because of less travel necessary to get out of the way. I don't know if I said that right.

I dunno, that doe that ducked my arrow in Nebraska last year must have been from the south. She was wicked fast and she taught me a lesson (twice).[:@] Must have been on vacation and visting it's northern relatives. This was around Christmas and the new year.
