Great view this morning
My lawn I've been working so hard on for the past two years finally got rain yesterday and the day before. That's the third time it's rained here since the beginning of spring.
I got up this morning at 6:00, grabbed a cup of coffee and kind of staggered out the front door to look at the progress and there were three does in my front yard about 30 yards from my front door. I knew there were deer here because there's a trail going through my woods behind the house, but it's the first time I've seen them in the lawn.
I wish I'd had a camera handy. It would have been a beautiful photo. I just mowed yesterday, the dew was on, thelight from therising sun was sparkling off the wet grass with the three deer standing there looking at me.
I don't know why, exactly, but I've been in a good mood ever since. Maybe it's because I knowI have a great tree to put a stand in overlooking that trail....

RE: Great view this morning
That is awsome! I missed all the excitement at my place this morning. I live about half a mile from a forest preserve. I have never seen a deer make it's way down to the houses. I have seen them but they always stay well away from the houses. I got a call this morning that right after I left the house my roommate let the dog out in the fenced in back yard and found 2 deer. A doe and a 6 point velvet. By the time she could grab the camera they were over the fence and down a few yards already!
I may have to set up a tree stand in my back yard now! Forget all that traveling!!

Good for you, LC!
We probably saw 30 deer, total, last night (between my wife and I). I know we saw the same 10 or so in one field (soy beans).....but we're grateful for the rain we've been getting, also.
Lisa saw a fawn nursing it's mama, by the creek, about 50' off our driveway, last evening. I've seen a lot in the woods.....but I've yet to see that.
We are all blessed to see the things we do. I don't lose sight of that.

RE: Great view this morning
I just thought of something I hadn't before. For fathers day, my kids chipped in and got me my first 3D target. It was only a Delta Riverbottom Buck, but it was a real surprise. It's set up by the house and can be seen from the woods behind the house and in front. I wonder if that has anything to do with seeing deer for the first time???
