How old would you say this deer is ? The bucks i have taken have huge body size for the area - some of the reponses I got yesterday were some of the bucks were 2.5 - I never had any of them aged

brk

You're gonna find out that a lot of people look at a deer like that and compare it to the deer they see in their area. If that deer were in my area.....there's only one 1.5 yr old that looked like that (rack-wise)that I saw. That deer...in MY opinion.....is 3.5 yrs old (maybe 4).....if he was taken where I think he was (S'Bury area?).

You take an over-abundance of deer........poor soil quality....and a bloodline of nothing but other bucks and does experiencing the same......and that's what you get. I shot a 2.5 yr old last year that was a big ol boy body-wise (171 lbs.). He was a smallish-racked 7-pointer. he was a legit 1.5 yr old in MANY places in the country.....but when you see the 1.5 yr olds around here.....you know when one ISN'T.

Great looking deer. Congrats.

I guess that is the point I was trying to make, the first pic I posted yesterday, i was told was 3.5 or older by the farmer that owns the land and has taken hundreds of deer

I try a judge bucks by their body size as much as their headgear - for this reason
