The new Baracuda strings are much better than the old Zebra twist strings. No more stretch than WC or VT. They're all 452.

I have owned numerous bows made by Mathews over the years and I would be the first to agree on the grip/string issues. I just bought an Apex 7 which has the grip that is basically just the riser, it is much better than any of the others I have shot. It would be nice to see them change the grips and strings on all of their bows considering that is everone's major gripe with them.

And about grips, I don't really like most grips from anyone to be honest, the only grips I really like fromany factory are the bowtech shrewd grip ($50 upgrade), apex series mathews grips, and the Martin thermal elite grips. The thermal elite is the only hunting friendly grip from anyone that I like out of the box. The rest of the grips I have felt were too rounded on the back for me.......I like defined edges on the back of a grip. The first thing I would do with ANY hunting bow from the factory is upgrade the grip. My XT last year with the torqueless grip was neck and neck with my old 04' Patriot for favorite hunting bow ever.

Mathews came out with the competition grip a few years ago which a lot of people like. Personally, I still think they are two big and induce torque, but I prefer a low wrist grip.

As RJ said, all the mid level and up bows are good. Once you reach that level the bow will always outshoot the guy holding it so it comes down to personal preference.

Washington,
See that head to head matchup I posted. Although not the fastest bow, the Drenalin was rated the most efficient with light and heavy arrows.
It's a great bow. I know it's very stupid, but the main reason I didn't get it was every time I went to shoot it or pick it up I kept staring at that small, weak looking limb attachment (I know it's not, but looks that way). Also didn't like the grip either.
