I prefer mechanical ONLY because of the bigger cutting diameter. I am producing 82 pounds of KE, so I'm not even slightly worried about that.

I have nothing wrong w/ fixed blade, I've killed quite a few deer with them, but last year I decided I wanteda BIG hole through that critter.....The bigger the hole, the more blood loss.....Faster bleeding = dead deer faster......That's the theory anyway.

Fixed, never had a reason to change to mechs. They have done the job for me.

I too prefer the mechs for the large cutting diameter.

Fixed! Some fly good with a tuned rig. No guessing if they will open.

But for a gut shot the larger mechanicals work better.

I've tried many different fixed blade b-heads but mechs have always been more impressive for me. It would be hard to imagine ANY other b-head outperforming the Steelhead. IF I had to shoot a fixed blade these days, it would be the Slick Trick.

Fixed blades have a 100% chance of cutting something. I have had a friend or two tell me about the mechanical that lost a blade or didn't open. I don't believe failure is that common but I like the least working parts I can get.
With the fixed bladeBH's flying so well I see no reason to change.
