What is the your typical hunting height ?
Early season in Nc I hunt between 12-15 ft
Mid season 15-20ft
Late season 20-25ft do not like to go much higher because of the severe downward angles -
I had 7 deer walk underneath my climber last opening week and I was a mere 8 ft off the ground and these are pressured eastern Nc deer - they never notice me, and feed around for the next 45 mins to an hour -
I do use Fitzgerald's deer dander and actually witnessed a few deer stop and paw the ground and lick where I had applied the scent

Seriously, BA....I agree with you.
What this conversation usually brings up though...is a contest to see who can piss highest on the wall (or, tree....if you will).
Go high enough to get good cover.....and hunt.
Some guys have problems with thermals.....and I agree that getting higher, later is a good idea. If I hunted at 25' in the early season, though....it would cut out a LOT of shot opportunities for me.

usually between 18 and 25', I have never gone any higher than 25 and I rarely go that high. I will say the higher I go the more I seem to be able to get away with as far as movement and noise

Yeah I can see that, I am sure it is different in different areas of the country - the southeast and I am originally from Fla.I personallyhavetypically hunted lower heights until some of folliage falls
Higher can be better but it depends on pressure, cover, and ething in between it is a matter of choice I suppose and as long as I am seeing deer consistently keep doing what works
How bout deer dander anyone esle tried that- I am sold too many positive things I killed a good 9 point the 2nd day of the season and it was extremely hot and humid

The average height for me is anywhere between 20 to25 feet.
One time I was in a friends stand that was about 15 feet up and sure enough every deer that came near busted me before they got into bow range.

RE: typical hunting height
for me mostly hunt from the ground.....i do have a few stands and every situation is different....i don't think there can be a normal or right or wrong stand height....you put it where it will be most effective.....i have had some at 8 feet and others up to about 25'.....
