RE: Microsoft and Hunting
Today I received a reply from Microsoft to my letter urging them to discontinue supporting anti-hunting groups.
Their letter states:
"At Microsoft, our mission and values are to help people and organizations throughout the world realize their full potential. With the "i'm" Initiative, our goal is to empower our users to support causes that are most important to them through something they do everyday - send instant messages. Consistent with our initiative slogan "It's your voice, it's your choice", people are able to choose from among ten of the most recognized social cause organizations that address issues ranging from poverty, child protection, disease, environmental degradation and animal protection.
We respect and value your opinion, however, we do not plan to make changes to our relationships with our partners. We feel strongly that these organizations provide a range of causes that will appeal to a wide range of passions".
Sincerely,
Microsoft Corporation

I dont get it, Microshaft (what we like to call them here at work) is against hunting but yet their OS'ssupport hunting games. This makes no sense. Sure Gates has millions to blow but do you really think its going to make that big of an impact. Hes just trying to make himself look good among the anti groups. Does this meen that we will no longer be able to install hunting games on MS OS's? I doubt it. Hes kissing someones ass for one reason or another. Just another publicity stunt by Coorperate America.

My next computer will be a mac. Doesn't have a whole lot to do with this pile of crap. Just tired of all the viruses and deceptive marketing and crap. This is just icing on the cake.

I'd like to show Microsoft the conclusive evidence that a large portion af every dollar spent in this country on hunting/fishing/trapping licenses does more good for scientific wildlife management and habitatthan all the monies thrown at organizations like the HSUS!
But I don't know how.

$ 100k? Are you serious? This was probably tied to a deal and the salesmen wrote it off as a business expense and used the corporate credit card.
$ 10 million and then you could say that somebody that is somebody in microsoft might know about it.

Wow...that's messed up.....what an off combination. Unfortunately for me, my job has to do with Microsoft...I teach Microsoft Office at a private business college...so I can't get away from it. However, I will shoot out an Email with my thoughts.
