Cow cover scent???
I hunt on farms and there are cow pastures all around where I hunt and one stand borders one. I usually make a point to step in a cow pile b4 I get to far into my walk. I think that there should be a cow cover scent spray of some sort, I mean they got swamp, dirt, apple, acorn, and everything else, why not cow **** Am I making any sense or not. Does this sound like a good idea Any ideas on who to talk to about this

RE: Cow cover scent???
I have used cow pattie sent for years.
I take a couple fresh patties, put them in a bucket with a quart or so of water, stir well.let settle, then strain.let settle again, strain through a couple layers of cotton colth. put into a spray bottle.(if you don't strain real well a couple tomes it will stop the sprayer up )
I only use it on my boots, the wife gets upset if I get it on my pants..
if I run out, then I do like you say, step on a pattie. works real well.
I spray my cloths and hat along with myslef with,H.S.Sents , sent-a-way spray, then the cow cover.
I am not a hunter I am a whitetail population reduction specialest
remember keep your back to the sun, your knife sharp, and your powder dry.

RE: Cow cover scent???
Many times I have gone straight from the dairy barn to my stand. I am already covered with the scent, don't know why it is not on the market yet. Must be all the bull**** and red tape you would have to go through to make it from real cow****...

Barnyard scents work only when barnyard animals are around. i was hunting a sheep/horse farm in the morning, that evening went to another stand that was suburb type hunting. Deer cut my tracks and did not like the sheep/horse smell. From then on I washed my boots after hunting the sheep farm.

RE: Cow cover scent???
I have stepped in a patty b4 to cover my tracks to my stand. But I dont think I would want to smell like a cow in a tree lol. In my experience deer are not afraid for their life from a cow like they are people...but deer still like to avoid being in the immediate area where cows are....I assume its becuz of the disturbance the cows make which distracts the deers senses. Also on several occassions I have watched steers chase deer from a pasture field.
I prefer to attempt to not attract any attention to myself. If you smell too strongly like ANYTHING, and the deer catch your scent, they become more alert and start to look for the source of the odor.

If you wear camo paint instead of a headnet you can stick your fingers in a fresh cow patty and smear on your face, makes a great substitute for the brown paint.
