RE: Must read- how to call in more deer - it works!
You know...it's funny. I've sat in a tree for decades. I've been in and around thousands of deer up close and personnal. I've even managed to whack a few. I've even rattled in and called in a couple. BUT REALLY, come on folks.... <BLOCKQUOTE id=quote<font size=1 face='Verdana, Arial, Helvetica' id=quote>quote:<hr height=1 noshade id=quote>To call in virtually every deer you see <hr height=1 noshade id=quote></BLOCKQUOTE id=quote></font id=quote><font face='Verdana, Arial, Helvetica' size=2 id=quote>. The extinction of deer is at hand.<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>
BUT REALLY...of all my countless thousands of hours in the woods, and all the thousands of hours of my friends and relatives... I can count on one hand the times that deer came babbling through the woods like these call manufacturers want us to believe. Sure they're vocal... sometimes. And sure they talk... sometimes. But most of the time they're quiet and secretive. I've watched hundreds of deer throw their heads up at the sounds of approaching deer. Most of the time they just stare. Once in a while they take off to get out of the way.(Get ready to shoot) Lots of times they just stare as the other deer pass without knowing of the eyes watching them. They don't all jump up and start bleating and grunting and tick tick ticking. From what I've observed... if a deer does grunt at them..... most of the time they ignore it and don't bother to look. I grunted at a herd one day as they passed about 80 yards away feeding on acorns. Nothing. I did it again. Nothing. Finally my cell phone went off. I answered it as soon as I found which pocket it was in. Nothing. The deer ignored it too. I finished the conversation and watched the deer continue to feed. I grunted again. One deer looked... turned and ran and the rest followed. Duuhhhhhhhhhhhh..... slow reflexs on those deer. They didn't mind the heated phone call to an employee who had screwed up and I had to leave the woods. They didn't mind the first several grunts. Finally one silly deer took them all away.
I've bought too many grunt calls. I did find out the hard barrels that hold the reeds on some make good handles for for pulling a deer out of the woods. I also found that once every 10 years they're worth having. BUT NOW... this manufacturer thinks he's got the one that every deer will flock to you with. To be honest.... I don't want every deer coming to me. To many eyes and so few arrows. By the way.... there is no easy way to carry, hold and use a grunt tube. On the little cords the business end always ends up by my belly button down inside my shirt. If I stick in a shirt pocket it hangs out so my bow string can catch it and it either does all or one of several things.
(1) It catches the string and I miss
(2) It catches the string which snaps the lanyard and throws the call in 6 pieces in 4 different directions.
(3) It catches the string and gives me rope burn on the neck right after I spit out my upper plate.
No sir.... I "ain't" buyin'. I don't want all those deer around me. I'm to old to explain to my wife that the hickie looking thing on my neck was snap-back from a grunt tube and not some lovely sucking on it. She'd really give my tubes reason to grunt I'm sure. I'm going to stick to good old fashioned hunting tactics.<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

Greencastle Guy's email is jbm1@, and I guess he is from Greencastle, Pa. The website selling CD's references Jesse Miller (jbm1?) and is in Greencastle, PA.
So I assume you are here drumming up business. There are a lot better ways to do it, people here don't really respond well to blatant ads such as this.
We would love to have you here, asking questions or responding to others questions, we really would. But you will catch a lot of flack if you reference the grunting CD very often.

I'd welcome you to the board greencastle-guy, but I have a funny feeling your other post is a spam appetizer in a different forum. Let me guess, hhmmmmmm the Deerhunting forum? Lets hope the mods don't just lock this thread, I vote DELETE.
