Any thing that increases the strength of the back, arms and shoulders.Go easy with yourself,Rome wasn't built in a day. Also very important is leg and core strength, lots of power and stability come from the legs and torso.

I agree with the focus on the core. Actually pushups do help strengthen your core. Complimenting that with weights I would look for compound movements as opposed to focusing on fewer muscle groups i.e. dumbbell rows. Don't get me wrong I think they would be helpful, butthey only focuse on a small muscle group.
Compound movements such as grabbing a couple dumbbells (start out light) could be doing a pushup witha dumbbell in each hand and bring your feet to your chest at the end of the pushup. Then slowlydo a squat while raising the dumbells in a military press over your head. Repeat the process several times and do a few sets. I repeat; start out light!! Don't forget to up your protein intake and the sooner you ingest some good, clean, lean protein after your workout the better. Your muscle tissue will repair much better that way.
That would strengthen most of the muscle groups in your body and that is what you are aiming for...so to speak.

Thanks guys.
It makes sense that most of the upper body stuff is helpful. So far just shooting a lot and push-ups have
made my prior draw weight a cinch (which is how I want it to be for hunting).
tsoc, that also makes sense about the core, thinking about tennis, baseball, even golf,
a lot of torque comes from the torso.

Google Archery Fit. I know a lot of guys on here are gonna make fun of it, but it works. Shooting your bow often will help the most, but I've been exercising with my Archery Fit strenghening system at work and it has really helped.
