RE: It can't hurt, can it help?
I'll stand up and say they work. Maybe not complete scent elimination, but most of it. I hunt in a tree at ten feet and have had many deer pass directly under me even when the wind wasn't too favorable. I think there are times when they can smell somethng human and are on guard but the suit makes the smell seem to be much further away and not a threat. I hunt just out of town here in New Braunfels, Tx. where human odor is part of life, so you guys hunting the big woods on public land (no such thing down here) may have a different experience as to a deer reaction to the smell. I will also add this...I bought a pair of scentloc sneakers a few weeks ago, I had 4 doe walk across my 5 min. old foot steps last weekend and they didn't miss a beat. And I always have a pinch of Sloal in my lip.

This was my second season of using the Scent Blocker outfit.
I've killed a buck and a doe that were directly in my downwind scent stream for what its worth. I killed 6 deer with the bow this year and two last year with the bow while wearing the suit. I wear it all the time. You will still occasionally get winded, it is not foolproof.
My analysis of hunting with and without the suit goes like this...your scent is like a loud radio...you cannot turn it off, but you can most certainly turn it way, way down using the suit.
I am disappointed in the quality of the Scent Blocker outfit by Robinson Laboratories. It is coming apart at the seams and the area where the pockets are stitched. For the price I paid, I expect very high quality and durability.
If I were to do it over again, I would instead buy one of the "chemical suits" that are available for a rather reasonable price.
Yes they shed some charcoal onto your clothing at first, but that is a function of the high levels of carbon that are contained in the garment, and that is a very good thing. Also they are almost certainly built to military specs, which means that they should hold up under tough field applications.
The chemical suit is on my list of replacement items when my suit has finally petered out or fallen apart.
Any type of carbon outfit should only be washed when it is badly soiled or bloody. As you've probably heard, they can be "recharged" by putting them in the dryer on high heat for about 45 minutes or so.
Also, from what I've seen the latest Scent Shield head cover is the best buy. It leaves you ears and a small strip of your eye exposed, which allows you peripheral vision and unobstructed ability to hear those sneaky whitetails.
All in all, I would say that the suits are like a cell phone. Yea, you could hunt without them, but after you've used them, you really won't hunt without them again.
Merry Christmas Cougar, Bowdacious and all of my friends on the board.
