I don't think one is better under all circumstances. I think each has advantages and disadvantages. Aluminums are generally more consistent in spine and straightness, even in the cheaper grades. Carbons are generally more durable and tend to penetrate a bit better, although this can be debatable on game. I have found it is usually a little easier to get good arrow flight with better grade aluminum arrows vs carbons. This is not to say that carbon arrows will not shoot well, but you do need to use the better grade arrows. As a general rule the more expensive the carbon arrow the more consistent they will be. Finished arrow weights for aluminum tend to be 50 to 100 grns heavier than those of similarly spined carbon shafts, so if weight is a concern you will need to take that into consideration as well.

I'll be going back to Aluminums this year..I had 2 carbons break this year..luckily I wasn't hurt..but as you can see from recent postsit happens. I can see how.
