I use a Scott now that I paid about$60 for, but I used a Cobra pro caliper for years and I think I liked it better than I do my Scott.
You can get one of those at Wal Mart for about $25.

I personally use a James Greene GatorJaws. I like it because there is less serving wear than a single point release, and I don't have to fumble with getting a single caliper on a string loop. Tried that, wasn't impressed.

Whichever you choose, buy two just to have a back-up. MHO
