I was looking on ebay for a range finder and I found all of these cheap no name ones for golf that are dirt cheap, about $20, how do you think these would be for ranges no more than 50-60?

I bought one of those things a couple of years ago when I first started bowhunting. I promptly took it back to Radio Shack when I found out it would not range under 50 yds. Any thing over 50 it worked OK at best and it took a long time to get the end results. Save your money.

This does not look like a LASER range finder which you are probably thinking it is. I doubt you will get anythying like that for under 100 bucks, and that would be a great deal.
I think a lot of these golf range finders work off the flag for that hole. The flags are a set length and you can estimate range using them. Sort of like using a Mildot reticle on a scope. The dots are a specific distance apart and if you know the size of an object you can estimate range with them.
If this is how this range finder works I don't think it will do you much good for hunting.
