Well, ill try to make it short!
We headed up to Nebraska last week for the archery opener. All the bird were still grouped up and not coming to the call or decoys. A couple of the guys shot one, but i didnt have much luck. On the 4th day there were were chased out by a snowstorm and headed to the SE side of the state. My camera man and I got set up on some birds that were making there way across the field. We set up a natural blind and waited. They ended up sneaking up behind us and coming straight toward us. Since we made a natural blind, there was a lot of cover behind us and it wasnt made to shoot that way! Anyway the birds end up coming in getting about 7 yards away and i have a little hole. I draw back, ask Shawn if hes on him. He replies, "no, theres a tree in the way" So the bird hangs around for a minute or so while im still drawn back.He finally starts to walk away and gets behind a tree so i can slowly raise up to shoot over the cover. He gets about 25 yards out and i put the pin on him and shoot. I heard the whack it makes when you shoot a bird and saw feathers but upon reviewing the tape, i just shot through the tailfeathers. Oh well...thats bowhunting, im after them again soon!

RE: hunting stories...ups and downs
IN SHORT VERSION, I SHOT AT THE BIGGEST BUCK OF MY LIFE. I WAS ON THE GROUND, THE BUCK TURNED RIGHT WHEN I RELEASED CAUSING ME TO ONLY GET LIVER AND GUTS. WAITED 30 MIN STARTED TO RAINAND GETTING DARK,SO STARTED TO TRACK, AFTER FOLLOWING BLOOD FOR ABOUT HALF A MILE LOST BLOOD IN A BEAN FEILD. WITH A VERY SICK FEELING IN MY GUT I HEADED BACK TO WHERE I SHOT THE DEER TO RECOVER MY GEAR WHEN I FOUND THE BUCK PILED UP NOT 30 YARDS FROM WHERE I SHOT HIM. BEING UN FAMILLAR WITH THE WOODS THE BUCK DID A COPLETE CIRCLE. WELL HE FEILD DRESSED 278# AND GROSSED 182-5/8" NOT BAD GOR AN OLD BEAR BLACK LIGHTNING BOW
