RE: How's hunting in S. Illinois right after Christmas
Guys,
In my opinion the Non-resident price hike is bull. I do however think it was done inretaliation to other states. I have planned on hunting with friends of mine in Iowa for several years, until the Non res. price hike there. I attended the Iowa deer classic lastyear, and their DNR could not explain. I am fortuante to have some prime hunting land about an hour from my house, and since I am a resident of Il. the prices havent affected me much. I do think that all the states need to get together and redo their pricing. Hunting is supposed to be a sport that you can enjoy with your friends. I can even hunt with my friends in Ia becuase of the cost, its sad to say, but its just not worth it. Maybee we could all get together and petition the offending states DNR's, or whomever controls these prices. Any ideas?

Personally, I kind of like the reciprical system. Lets say Im from MO. and the state of IL. charges me $500 to hunt in their state, well for an IL. resident to hunt in MO. it will cost them $500 and so forth and so on.
If every state used this system I think we would get enough complaints from the residents in each state that it will eventually be changed, I may be wrong but then again it could work.
Your from IL. and you said you had friends in IA. that you like to hunt with up there, but since the nonresident tags are so costly you dont think its worth it.
Well think about it, we know that there are hunters from KS. IA. or MO. that would like to hunt in IL. and vice versa. Nobody wants their hunting opportunities limited to their home state, I know I dont.
I do think that there is something that can be done, but Im not sure what it is, if anyone feels the same way that I do about this, try to think of something that we can all do to get these outrageous nonresident prices changed. I think we would all be better off in the long run.
