If I was running the show, bow season would come in on the last saturday in September, and continue non-stop through new year's weekend.

Rifle season would become shotgun/muzzleloader only, and I would quickly become the most hated man in the State of Pennsylvania.

If I were running the show, I would implement "earn-a-buck". For those of you whoaren't familure with this program, you must kill a doebefore you canshoot a buck. In my area, 5-D, there are unlimited antlerless permits. Obviously there's too many deer in this region, so with "earn-a- buck" hunters would focus more on killing a doe than they would if given a choice. Make sence?
Also, the fact that there are antler restrictions says that they want morebucks to be able to mature and have bigger racks, once again "earn-a-buck" would help to acheivethis goal.
The only problem I can think of is how to enforce the program? What do you folks think about this?

Early in I'd be all for that, they gotta do some thing. They are now considering a bill (550 in yesterdays daily local)that would allow a farmer to hire guns to thin herds for crop damage. I don't know if I like that Idea.

i personally dont care for the new seasons. its a DOE season incase you guys didnt know. in my part of 2B i wont be shooting any does any time soon unless i find an area that HAS alot. the farm country i hunt just got pounded in the recent years. i hear if i hope a county over i will see more deer..getting permission to hunt will be hard..

personally its too hot for me to hunt preseason....and hunting after the season during the peak of the rut with a unfilled buck tag only being allowed to take does would be like torture!!

and rybo is right...a couple weeks of a doe bow season wont have hardly any impact if at all.
I hear you brother... I'm in the farm country in 5C and the doe have taken a real beating here too... In all of archery season last year I saw 4 adult doe... Yeah, it nice we get some extra time, but a lot of good it does when all you get to see is squirrels. Two strait months of rifle doe season has taken its toll...

Mauser,
I was refering to having a statewide archery buck and doe season that runs a long time. I think in the hard to reach areas the extended doe season will help out. I plan to get at least 3 more tags than normal with the extra time.
