Same as he just said to a T.

I have taken many spring birds with my shotgun, but this will be the first year I attempt it with a bow. I am looking forward to it. I have a ground blind, and some good decoys, so I should have as much of a leg up as I can get on them.

Someone told me awhile back Ted Barta said bad Ju Ju things [&:]about hunters and in blinds for turkey. It ain't a piece of cake even then. So I am with you, get as much advantage as you can, and then hope! [8D]

this is the look you will have after your first few days w/bow in hand instead of that shotgun. I killed my 1st bird w/a gun in 1995 & never went back! You need to sit for long hours in one spot. This year I am changing areas & will sit from 4 AM to 5 PM here in WI, in MN this year I can hunt till 8 PM.I douse 2 Double Bull's ifpossible, just to have options.
A "comfy" chair in a bag, a good supply of food & drink. A "pee" jug so your not going in & out. Ihave more birds on film from 10AM - 3 PM than any other time. I had a spot that was a fly down area, exciting but pointless trying to compete with the real hens.

I found an Archery only spot to hunt in MN this year, finally no gun hunters stalking my decoy spreads! I use a orange safety flag on top of my double bulls & was stalked to within 75 yards last year in MN. 2 kids 1ST year turkey hunting9/10 am & they were stalking a gobbler in the cut corn field out infront of me. I did not see them tillthey stood up shooting & the turkey flew over myblind, if I had the roof open I couldhave flung one...

Pattern the birds inyour spot, & it depends on your season. Here in WI we get one stinkn' season 5 days long, yes you can buy surplus tags. That's why I hunt MN also, 2 options apply & draw or get rejected & buy surplus. Plus they also have the best option if you have time & can travel, over the counter tag good for 2 weeks + you can go almost any ware.

This year I drew a mid week tag in MN Sun-Thur in mid May & will buy a surplus tag for thelast week of the WI season in zone 3Wed-Sun.
The two spots are only 80/100 miles apart...
