Howdy guy's,I haven't been here for a while and hope to get some info from you experts. My best hunting buddy wants to get into bow hunting. He wants something with all the bells and whistles.300+ f.p.s.I told him that once you get your set up it is not really that hard to get accurate.(well it wasn't for me)I suggested the mathews solo cam.He is apretty natural shot with whatever he picks up and has shot a bow some. What do you guy's think? It depends on what his draw length and draw weights are. If his draw length is 29' or less, maybe he woutld like the PSE Team Fitzgerald. It's a package deal with quiver, arrow rest, and fiber optic sight for around $200.00. If his draw length is longer, maybe the Hoyt Razortec, or Magnatec. They are more expensive but offer greater performance also. But they don't come in packages either so he'll still have to buy all the extras. Take him to a pro shop and have him measured and go from there. Good luck.

KEEP IT LEGAL. KEEP IT SAFE. OR WE MAY NOT GET TO KEEP IT AT ALL.

I'd have him look around, go to as many different bow shops as possible. Have him look at different makes & models, shoot as many as possible to get a feel of what fits him best. A certain model may seem awesome to you, but to him it may not. Everybodies different. I don't knock any brand on the market. Most are very good bows now. As far as all the bells and whistles I'm not sure if thats really necessary starting out, and neither is 300plus fps. faster bows are often more difficult to shoot, and learn on. Shorter axles and brace heights are often associated with fast bows, making them harder to shoot. I found in the hunting woods quiet bows pay big dividends over some faster noisey models.
This spring I purchased a new bow. I went to many pro shops, and archery dealers. I had a list of what I wanted in a bow. I shot many including Mathews, Hoyt, Reflex, Martin, and ended up with a Champion bow. I love it, but thats me! Tell your buddy good luck.

BuckAlley hit it on the head. Speed ain't everything. Don't get me wrong, I'd like more, but my short draw length won't allow much more. Quiet is the key-do whatever it takes to make your bow quiet, even if you have to lose a little speed. String silencers, limb savers, stabilizer/vibe dampener. My silent bow paid off with two shots on the same deer in 2 minutes without her ever knowing I was there. As slow as my bow is, I had 2 pass-throughs with mechanical heads.
