You guys can have the name calling. For God's sakes....we're talking about an arrow rest.
A quick search of the Mathews site came up with these remarks by some of their members.....in the first thread I searched for involving the WB. I've always said I liked th erest.....and the oNLY reason I post on these threads....is to alert people of the noise issues INHERENT with this and EVERY OTHER rest. If there were a way to silence the rest (without switching arrows)....I'd have done it LONG ago. BUT.....to say there isn't a noise issue with SOME arrows.....is being in a state of denial.
Here's what the 1st thread on another site said about this rest (along with positive comments that I DO acknowledge).

I think alot of the noise problems people expierience during the draw are due to the arrow rest not the arrow itself..As Jeff stated some arrows have a finish on them that may tend to make some noise on a particular rest those same arrows won't make noise on a different rest.Ive shot all different types of arrows through my dropzone(everything but wood)and all were silent
You need something...
there is no arrow/rest combination that can be TRUSTED to be silent under all conditions. Heat Shrink can't be trusted either. I have had perfectly silent arrows "chatter" when they were wet (yes, I hunt in rain) or when iced up...same goes for the cable slide...teflon is best, I think.
Moleskin solves alot of problems. I've even used Curad bandaid in a pinch.
JMHO...always use a moleskin and never trust bare rest and shaft friction to be silent...it won't, and you just know its going to happen at the worst time

I use GoldTips exclusively now (in various drop-aways), but if you shoot a Whisker Biscuit, GoldTips are a BAD idea. I had several deer spook at the sound of the arrow being drawn with this combination. I could hear the sound myself, even with 60 y/o ears. I tried waxing the arrows, rubbing the arrows with Rain-X, and even spraying the Biscuit itself with silicone spray, all to no avail. Easton A/C/C's were silent. As mentioned above, I suspect it has to do with the finish on the arrow.

Indiana....
I don't use Gold Tips....but I had a problem with the noise from my Radial X-Weaves being drawn across the bristles. Yes...I had the proper size. I don't expect anyone to take what I say as gospel. I'd just challenge you to try drawing an X-weave through your WB and get back with me.
I loved everything else about the rest........except the noise. If I had been using different arrows....I'd likely have never switched.
pigiron:
PM = PRIVATE MESSAGE......or...it used to. People use PM's to keep things off the board that are best kept in private. PM's are preferredand encouraged byforum members and the board moderators when things get heated between forum members. Be careful, though......not everyone believes in the sanctity of these messagesremaining private. Because of the actions of some.....I'd be careful of anything said in aPM. It may not remain "Private".

Love my WB, and have for years now!

I'm just saying that the quote you brought from another forum seems to go against the grain, since lots of guys have said that they use, as do I, the Gold Tips with no noise issue! Wonder why that "guy" had noise issues when no one else does when using the gold tips!

Howler:
You admitted to "some" noise......and I'm assuming the person who wrote this is eluding to the same. My arrows actually made quite a bit of noise. They made enough to cause a problem in the field and to make me switch rests. To be honest....if the woods had not been dead silent, that day.....I might still be using it.
ALL I've ever said is.......I was 27' from a nice little buck.....and he heard it being drawn across the bristles. I'm betting you could hear it from 27', THAT DAY, too. It's not a real stretch of the imagination.
Other than that.....I loved the rest. I've taken deer since that day......with 2 of them being inside that distance (and 3 outside that distance). Neither day was as quiet as that one, but the fact that I've been able to add moleskin to the prongs of my drop-away makes it a better fit, for me. If your is working for you......GREAT! I just couldn't find a way to silence mine.
