So its ok to tell someone what they can and can't argue....but its not ok to tell someone how far they can or can't shoot?

The way I see it is that we have all seen the videos of deer ducking arrows. I don't care if you can hit a golf ball at 100 yards with your bow because you can't just what a deer or any other animal will react given enough time to do so. I've seen deer leap up in the air, I've seen deer spin around on their haunches. That is the factor that worries me.

ORIGINAL: huntingson

My max is... my max. There are too many variables to say a specific yardage. Wind, terrain, animal behavior, animal size (elk vs deer), all come into play. Each person also has a different amount of risk or wounding an animal that they are willing to take. Apparently b-hole is willing to wound animals quite frequently. Someone else may only want to take shots that they will make 99 times out of 100.

Exactly. I would take a shot out to 40yds in perfect conditions, but I don't find those very often.

I stick to >30yds. My dad still thinks thats to far though. There arent any wounded deer in our woods.

40 yards.. broadside standing still on a whitetail, bear. Elk, 50 max... standing still broadside. I've never had to shoot that far but feel comfortable with that. Turkeys.. 20 or less

Most of my bowkills are inside of 20 yards.
