This is horrible. Its scary to think that it could happen to literaly anyone - even someone that most of us would consider a "pro". My thoughts go out to the man and his family.

We should also use this as a time to go over some of the basic winter survival guidelines. Agree?

agree,

Carry water, food, first aid kit, flares, make sure you have a spare tire, jack.

flares
knife
lighter/matches and sometype of fire starter.

possibly be a good idea to carry a tarp just in case you need to make shelter,

emergency blanket, map, compass,

carry your satellite phone if you happen to own one.

I'm sure there's a lot more but there's starting point.

I just found this. It seems that Ryan has been found with just some frost bite. This I guess hit a little closer to Im from Minnesota and my younger brother lives in Winona. But it sounds like a happy ending.
