Shot in the face with a broadhead?

Wow, that is different. I have a hard time believing it was from a broadhead, but it very well could have been. The bones in that area of the deers skull are pretty thin, so at close range, the arrow could have blown through. But yeah, that is a tough one.

If it were a broadhead, it would either have passed through leaving clear signs or it must have been deflected. While hunting this year, I found a hog skull that had been shot with an arrow. The entry was on the bridge of the snout, very close to where this deer was injured. The shaft had broken off even with the bone on the entry side and was sticking out about 3-4 inches underneath.
If not a deflected broadhead, which I tend not to think it was, I vote for some other kind of injury; puncture from a tine, kick from a hoof, bit from a dog or coyote, or very possibly a slight run in with an automobile. I think you said the bone was broken underneath, which make me lean toward a kick from a hoof or a car accident.
