As far as the antlers I left them there, we can't pickskulls like that up any more by law. And yes he is young, 2 1/2 yrs old I'd say. The genetics are good here in the midwest and if you shot bucks this size all the time you'd never have a chance at the big boys.

i usually find at least 1 buck a year when shed hunting, this year i found a buck and doe in the same spot; both had been devoured so there was no way to know what killed them.

I guess the reason for the law is to keep creeps from shooting them and then coming back a few weeks or months later an picking them up.
I think a person could call the D&R and a warden could come out and check it out and give you a permit for it. But I know for a fact if it's a big one there's no way they'll give you a permit for it.
