Off season Bow storage.

Off season Bow storage.
Bow seasons over for me unless I get a chance to catch a day during NY's late season, but thats not looking good right now. Anyways I was curious if anyone does anything special to store their bow in the offseason. I've always just left mine hanging on my bow rack in the past. Does anyone crank down their limbs for storage, or just leave them alone? I got my own scales, and can always crank them back up when ready to start shooting again in the spring. I was just wondering if this might save anything on the limbs over time or not. Appreciate any info!!!

The jury is still out on whether or not relaxing your limbs will lengthen their life span but I guess it couldnt hurt to do so. I usually make sure my string is well waxed and lubricate the axles with a teflon spray but in my opinion the biggest thing is to store your bow where there won't be a large amount of temperature fluctuation.

You mean you don't shoot in the off season?! With arrows to break, squirrels to miss, and stumps to kill, I yank my bowstring back throughout the year. <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>
Seriously, if you want to put your bow up for a while, backing the weight down "may" extend limb life. Just be sure to keep it somewhere that heat won't cook it during the warmer months like an attic or car.

offseason???? never knew there was sach a thing with spots indoor 3-d to shoot and in the spring outdoor 3-d.
you could if you have a bow press take it all apart and lube and clean everything and leave it like that until you want to start shooting again, but it will help your shootin if you just keep shootin all year long even if you just shoot in the basemnent or garage
lah

Yes, for me there is an offseason. I don't enjoy taking a bow out to shoot stumps in 3-4' of snow we get almost every winter. I have 1 1/2ft already. I don't have an indoor range to shoot at within 50miles. On warmer winter days I have taken it out on occasion to shoot at a target against a snow bank, but thats about it. Of course I take it out in the spring, and practice for May turkey season. I also shoot all summer for 3d shoots, and competitions.
Please leave it to my question guys. I appreciate any info I recieved alreadly on storage. Any more is also greatly appreciated. Thanks.
