Default Bow of the Year

well bowhunter magazine claims that the 2006 readers choice award for bow of the year went to the Hoyt Trykon, what does everyone think of that? and what in your opinion do you think should have won bow of the year and why?

thats one of those things that comes down to personal prefrance, now while i like thehoyt and bowtech bows i own a switchback andlove shooting that. i think that the bows these days are so close that it would be a hrad decision to make, any one of them could have taken it

I laughed pretty heartily when I read that... I'm not out to offend anyone with this comment, because I know there's some Trykon lovers out there... but I think I heard more negative comments about that one bow from people trying them out than any other Hoyt has put out in a LONG time...

That's not a slam against Hoyt at all; they make an EXCELLENT bow... but I've talked to a lot of shop owners who didn't like it, and I converse every so often with a Hoyt pro-staffer who wouldn't hunt with it because of its draw cycle, and told Hoyt so.I won't tell you which bow he took hunting...

I never discuss this kind of thing with Len too much. Besides that, he pretty much lets the customer decide what he likes. But I'm with you Greg/MO.... seems like these boards have had a lot of negatives from people that tried it. But then again, that could have just been all the MMMMMmmmmmmmmm.... Mmmmmmm....MMMMMMmm (well you know) people.[&:]

I had a Trykon and so did my wife. Ours both performed excellent and we were pleased with them but I have heard of others not liking the fuse strings last year and timing issues. The Trykon sold heavily, thismay attribute for top awards, plus it wasHoyts' 75th anniversary bow. Very good looking and quiet. The new 2007 Hoyt Vectrix has spoiled me though as next years bows probably will too. Love my 2006 Tribute too. Tough to beat a Hoyt or Bowtech IMO. I haven't had a chance to get down and shoot a Bowtech Guardian, I may like it so much that the Tribute goes down the road.Technology really advances in these bow makers every year.. Except for Mathews, their last years Switchback XT blows away the new Drenaline. Disclaimer; these are my opinions.

Here's my opinion......

Magazines sells ads. magazines need people such as Hoyt, Bowtech, Mathews, etc..., etc..., etc... to purchase ad space.

Translation: The magazines are going to spread the love via "bow of the year" awards.

It was Hoyt's turn. Nothing more.
