RE: What was your farthest kill with a bow??????
I saw a guy on the Primos Hunting show that took a pronghorn at 73 yards. It was insane. He had a 70 yard pin and said after the shot that he had a feeling the night before that he was going to be taking a long shot, so he set that pin. It was amazing, but I am against shots that far. It's too much of a risk.

shot my first and only deer, a 6 point, at about 30 yards w/ a 35# compound. i now shoot a 60# bow and hit a 5 point at 30 yds but the arrow hit a little stick that i didnt see and i just hit him in the back leg. trackeda small blood trailthe next day for around 100 yards or so. the blood started to pick up, but then suddenly ended. Ive seen him several times and im glad to say that he is perfectly fine.
I have one question that hopefully someone could clear up with just a short answer though. When we started tracking him, the blood was dry and starting to crack, but suddenly, it was bright red and still wet. we thought that we may have pushed him, but there was no sign of any beds along the trail, and the area is so small that we would have seen or heard him take off. idk why the blood would be dry and cracked and then suddenly become bright red and wet.

I have taken several deer at the 40 yards range. My own personal comfort level shooting is about 50 yards in no wind and perfect conditions. I believe there are few time in which a 40 yard shot on a live animal is aproppriate. Even when the is hasrdle no wind and the deer is completely oblivious I always wait for that perfect itme when the deer is either feeding or highly disracted while taking such a shot.

25 yards, and it was the doe I got this year. All my others have been 18 yards or less, the closest being a buck at 15 feet on the ground. The closer the better!
