I have camped on Mt Rainier, Mt Baker and Mt Adams [in Washington State] and also -5 degrees East of Brecksville Ohio. I have an REI Expidition bag rated to 25 below zero. Do not sleep with your head inside the sleeping bag. The moisture from your breathing will present problems and questionable comfort. Instead, I always wear a full fleece hood. In cold temperatures I still wind up unzipping my bag a little to cool it down a bit.

James, you say you have ventilation holes in the top of your tent. Don't cover them. They let moisture escape, and allow air to move in the tent. This will aid in keeping condensation from forming on the inside of the tent. I wrap a warm jacket around my feet and wear a stocking cap when I go to bed, in a sleeping bag. As the others have said, a good pad or something underneath you will work wonders at keeping you warm.

Yeh, I did that stuff when I was young and stupid. Now I'm old and stupid (still married).

yea I have. in a tent in about 28 degree weather. back then, I didn't even have a sleepin bag, just lots of cover. froze my butt off.

Hey James- I hope your heater is not a gas or propane type heater.
don't forget, about carbon monoxide poisonin. it's very dangerous to
run a heater in an enclosed place like a tent.
NEVER MIND, I DIDN'T READ THE ABOVE POST.<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>
