Default taxidermy question......

I shot my buck, last Saturday....while he was raising his head up to a licking branch.

He was also chasing does....right before I got him.

Does the circumstanes around which you take an animal have anything to do with how you have him/her mounted??? I know it would be personal preference....but I'm interested in your real-life experiences.

Jeff

Yes to me, but others may differ. I had porky in the sneak pose looking to the right. Just how I first saw him, and is what pops in my mind when I think about him day.

The ten I shot last Year was looking to the left, which is how I have him. I can still see him there looking across the river(in my mind).

I agree, the one deer that i mounted is a semi upright looking slightly to the left, which is exactly how he was when he jumped the fence where i shot him.

Germ:

I saw this buck, the first time, when Rob/PA and I were driving down the road. the second time I saw him....it was very strange to see a rack like his (for those of you that don't hunt around me....he is big for my woods....lol). He was walking very slowly with his nose to the ground.

The next time I saw him.....he was walking th esame way (nose to the ground).

In thinking....I'd like to mount him with his head down.....ears pinned back....the way I remember seeing him and almost shxtting my drawers.

yep. Semi-stink position.

I understand that Germ is getting new 176" buck laying in the fetal position. It makes for a good spoon.

Jeff, I usually have a spot picked out the wall before deciding on a mount. It determines which way his head is positioned as well as type. The actual happening when I shot hasn't infuenced my mount setting. If I did that, they'd all have these big eyes, deer in the head light look because of the arrow that suddenly zipped through them and that just wouldn't look natural.

Now my turkeys, I mount them the way I take them or at least has a moral to the story.

Spooning position. Does Mckenzie make a form for a mount like that?[8D]
