RE: What would you do if you saw this buck?
When i hunt, its not for the horns,I hunt deer,I kill them, and eat them.Naturally, i want a mature deer. The horns dont mean a whole lot to me if there not on a big deer.I dont eat the horns. So to answer your question,I d try my best to kill that deer, unless there was a bigger one there. And it has nothing to do with his imbread looking grin.

This one sounds easy to me. he is obviously an older deer and doesnt have great potential and may be getting to the age where it becomes more of a struggle to feed with his handicap.
If you are concerned about the genetics of the herd, shoot him and take him out of the gene pool.
If you dont care about horns, shoot him because he's legal and you have a legal tag for him as an antlerless deer.
If you do care about horns, he's now legally antlerless so shoot him
In other words, If he comes by again, SHOOT HIM!

dan interesting story and outcome, what was the low down on the lower jaw, damage or just serious over-bite, really did not appear to be affecting his nutrition level or eating

No way would I shoot him with no antlers just because he has an overbite. I videotaped a buck last year with a bad overbite and he could eat just fine. I sure would have shot him with both antlers (Dans deer) what a nice buck. To mount him I would use a different cape.

Anybody notice that he let the deer go then killed him later and NOW look at his antlers, I guess that underbite didn't hurt him too much. i would have shot him the first time he was in range just me though. I guess it was good that this guy didn't.
