It was a morning

It was a morning
Well, the snow yesterday had the deer out but I couldnt go last night. I got up this morning and my buddy picked me up. I walked to my stand without spooking any deer. I figured that they would bed later cause of the cold weather. I got to my stand and hooked my bow to the rope and started to climb up. I got 2 steps up and hear something and looked back to see a doe looking at me. She stood there and just looked at me for what seemed like 10min. It was prolly about 15-20 seconds and just walked off into the hillside my stand overlooks. I waited till she got to where I couldnt see her anymore and climbed on up in. I pulled my bow up and got my mask, gloves, and other coat on and nocked an arrow. I did three doe bleats to try to draw the doe back over to me but she wouldnt come into range for nothin. She didnt seem too spooked. She didnt put her tail up or blow or anything so, I dont think, with me on the side of a fairly large tree, that she knew what I was. I think it just bothered her that something was making noise so she left.
I wasnt in my stand an hour when I hear my buddy honk and I stand up. He comes up and says "Wanna go help me track my buck I just shot." Of coarse I couldnt resist.
I climbed down and we went over to the other field not 350yds away from me. He told me the deer he thought it was and told me it was limping so bad he didnt think it would make it to him so he decided to shoot. He told me that he didnt get a real good look at the rack cause it limped, had a rack, and had meat on it. We trailed it and that buck only went about 60yds. It wasnt the deer he thought it was at all. It was a little basket racked 7pointer. Woulda been a 8 but only had one browtine. He was a bit disapointed but really happy to have a deer down.
Now he has taken a doe, and this buck. Thats his buck tag. Now shotgun season is a week from Monday, I get to take that day off from school, so I am a bit discouraged that I aint killed a deer with a bow but happy that I will get meat, hopefully.
Boy what a mornin. I had blast, I got to practice tracking, he let me track. I had fun

RE: It was a morning
I just want to get one with a bow and watching everyone else get deer after deer with their bow is frusterating for me. I am gonna pick up my 12ga. for opening day of shotgun so I can hopefully get meat. I LOVE bow hunting but I like venison better<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle> I want to get a deer. I still got till Jan. 31st. to kill one with my bow but Im just kinda getting discouraged.

Sounds like you had a good day. Just think, if you don't get one with the shotgun, then you will still have the chance to take one with your bow ater the pressure has let off. Remember, it just takes a little time and a lot of patience and you will be in the right place at the right time to get one by bow. Good luck to ya!!!
The best of luck in all your hunting endeavors!!!
