Why is it that cattle will drive deer out of there habitat?

Without a doub, some of the biggest deer I've seen, have been in Pastures... With that being said though, the hunting is deffinately better in the pasture, without the cattle being there. But I'drarley count out a hunting spot just because cattle are in it. Especially during rifle season, when the deer are getting pushed. Some of the most unlikely spots are the very best.

I just absolutely love it when my neighbor lets his cattle out on his alfalfa fields 1 week prior to the archery opener here. Its his land..so I can't say a word, but dang. [:@]Even better they always seem to lay right under my stands and chew their cud till dark.. lovely, just lovely... [8D]

Cows in a pasture on a long term basis don't seem to bother as much as when the farmer turns 100 or 200 calves in on wheat and they can run in the brush, too. The deer don't seem to like the abrupt change.

I never have to good of hunting when the cows are left to roam. If they are there year round thats a different story, but when we put them out to feed on the fallen grain the deer get skidish. It saves alot of tonage of corn, soy, etc so thats why we do it. They will pick the fields clean for sure.
