If I have this right, there is a product that is all in one. Here is the Cabela's link to it:

http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/pod/standard-pod.jsp?id=0032997&navCount=1&parentId=cat 20063&masterpathid=&navAction=push&cmC at=MainCatcat21424-cat20063&parentType=index&indexId=cat20063 &rid=

I've never used it, nor do I know anyone who has. I think it would be a good thing though to maybe bring on a trip somewhere if you needed to re-fletch in a pinch or something. They sell them at the shop I go to, but haven't seen them leave the shelf.

I think someone is making wraps that already have the fletching on them. If I am correct....you simply choose the fletchings you want (quick spins....blazers, etc...).....and they're already attached to the wrap. Slide the wrap onto the bare shaft and heat it up.

Voila.

I have never seen that before. That's pretty cool.

Wonder how durable they are?

If I remember right you slide them onto your arrow and then dip that end of the arrow into hot water.

The only person I've talked to who has used them said they were alright, but he prefered to use regular wraps and vanes. Said something about the shrink fletching not always completely adhering.

A couple guys that i know have used those in the past. I know that if you dont get them properly attached originally that they will come off after shooting them a few times. They are easy to use though...

I know a bit about them. They are darned expensive. They come 6 to a pack. If you read the instructions they shrink to the shaft just like they are supposed to. But if you mess up, then what? They're heavy, too.

Damage a vane and you have to replace all three with another shrink-fletch. It's easy enough. Just use a utility knife and slice it. Then it peels right off.

Cost? I figure for the average guy to fletch 2 dozen arrows he could buy a jig and enough vanes and glue to do his own for about 10 years. And with your own jig if you mess up one vane you only need to replace that one. In my case, I've had my Bitz for 30 years. Can't keep vanes that long. They get brittle in time. Besides one company or another is always coming out with something "latest and greatest".
