I beleive the deer was killed in southern wisconsin.I remember seeing a newpaper artical on it. I also believe it was killed this fall during bow season. I will go look for the artical, someone had it up here at work in their office

RE: Hoofs on a Deer?
I watched a show one time on one of those animal channels or Discovery.
They had some kind of antelope or deer at this animal park that had hooves like that.
Evey so often the people running the park had to Tranquilize the antelope ( or whatever they were) and have a vet trim the hooves down.
Something about the soil wasn't hard enough or didn't have enough rocks to keep the hooves worn down.
I shot a big doe one time that had its one front leg frozen up like she was holding it up. The leg would not straighten out. Anyway, the hoof was real long like that.

I know that condition, foundered,in horses can be a death sentance. They get to where they cannot walk. I would expect that it would affect deer in the same way. It is amazing if the deer was in good health and died at the hands of a hunter.
